Pinecone today introduced Pinecone Connect, a plug-and-play integration that streamlines AI workflows and lets developers manage Pinecone resources from third-party platform providers without switching between environments.
Pinecone Connect offers a salve for developers so they can build robust AI applications while avoiding the arduous task of navigating the AI stack to utilize various tools, including data sources and model providers, according to Pinecone.
Absent direct integrations for tools, such as those provided by Pinecone Connect, developers are forced to switch between multiple platforms, burning up valuable time.
Speeding the process is Pinecone’s vector database, designed to let developers ship more accurate and secure AI applications in a unified experience from their own platform. Developers unfamiliar with vector databases can import data into Pinecone for free.
According to Pinecone, the plug-and-play integration of Pinecone Connect offers developers direct access to Pinecone without having to manage any pass-through operational burdens.
Two high-profile companies are already leveraging Pinecone Connect to help users build AI apps faster.
Twilio Inc. and Unicorn Matillion are among the companies that are using Pinecone Connect to streamline AI workflows for their users.
Twilio’s Emerging Technology and Innovation Team is deploying Pinecone Connect for AI Assistants, the company’s project that lets developers build customer-aware autonomous agents. “Pinecone is the first stop for many developers as they explore the power of vector databases and RAG,” Braden Becker, Twilio’s head of emerging technology and innovation, said in a statement.
Data-productivity cloud Matillion is offering Pinecone Connect for developers to execute vector upsert and query in Pinecone directly from their platform.
“With Pinecone Connect, Matillion brings unparalleled simplicity to RAG with our no-code Pinecone integration and dropdown activation,” Ed Thompson, chief technology officer at Matillion, said in a statement.
“Our users now get instant access to Pinecone on top of our 100-plus business and database connectors and data transformation capabilities that ensure data is optimized for RAG, directly on our platform,” Thompson said. “Together, we create enterprise-grade AI pipelines for any GenAI use cases.”
